The Future Is Looking Brighter!

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Monday,

I hope you all have a wonderful week. My name is Ann and this is my journey with thyroid cancer.

This past week I had my bi-yearly checkup with my endocrinologist. When I first went to see her in 2014, she said there is only a 23-25% survival rate for people with stage 4 papillary thyroid cancer with the tall cell variant. It was unsettling to hear and I did everything she said to save my life. I had been diagnosed with this cancer in November of 2013 and the following January I had a total thyroidectomy with the removal of affected lymph nodes. It was after my surgery that I met my endocrinologist. I followed the normal protocol of radioactive iodine and even added in an experimental chemo. I thought each of these treatments would cure me, but they did not and about a year later I learned that the cancer had spread to my lungs. Worse than that, there was nothing that could be done medically. The rationale was that i had to wait until the effects of the cancer were worse than the effects of the chemo. This did not sit well with me so I decided to start researching and I found the documentary, 'The Truth About Cancer'. This exposed me to alternative treatments. I went with it. Two years ago, starting in May, I became vegan, eating only an organic plant based diet. I had no meat, dairy, sugar, processed foods, or coffee. Doing this lowered my blood pressure, helped me to lose weight, and probably saved me from becoming diabetic - but what about the cancer?

When I started this diet, which was based on the Gerson Therapy, I knew it may not cure me. What I read was, it would take at least 2 years, but I may have to do it for the rest of my life. Additionally, there were no guarantees. It might cure the cancer, maybe slow it down, but there was also a chance it wouldn't work at all. As of this month, I have been on the diet for 2 years. Well in my case, it has slowed down the cancer. My endocrinologist stated that, while my cancer is still growing, it is growing very slowly and she doesn't see me needing any kind of medical treatment for a very long time. This is very different than hearing I will probably be on chemo within 2 years - which is what I was told after the cancer had spread to my lungs. While I would rather have heard that I am cured, I will take this news gladly.

For anybody reading this, I want to add this paragraph. First, I started everything I did with the attitude that whether or not it helped my cancer, what I was doing was healthy and would be good to do regardless of the outcome. I did not follow the Gerson Diet exactly. There are specific supplements that should be taken with it, which I did not do because of the expense. Also, you are supposed to do coffee enemas, which I did do, but stopped about 5 months later. Additionally, I should have taken 104 oz. of fresh juice daily. I only drank 64 0z. and they were made before I went to work and drank later in the day. Also, thyroid cancer is unpredictable. This could be just how my body would have reacted to this cancer anyway. Whatever is going on, the cancer is still growing slowly. I believe the diet has slowed it down and plan to continue it. I am going to cut down to one 32 oz. juice each day but will continue to eat an organic plant based diet.

My thought to anyone reading this is, the diet is safe and should be given a try. It won't hurt you and may be your cure. I've listened to so many testimonials and truly feel it has helped me. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best!

For now, wishing you all health and happiness!
