The Black and White of Research!

Happy Day All,
I hope you're enjoying a nice afternoon! I'm Ann and this is my journey with thyroid cancer.
Today I decided to write a blog about health websites and what I've learned. I try to read or listen to something related to health every day. I really enjoy doing this, but the information can be so contradictory - hence, the title of this blog and the silly video - which is probably pretty factual! Trying to do the right thing for my body and figuring out what's best to cure this cancer has been hard, time consuming, and frustrating. So how do I do it?
I decided pretty early that I had to follow my gut and do what I could, and would actually do. I also wanted to keep it simple and do things that made sense to me. I recently heard the saying, "First, do no harm" I'm not sure who said this, but I believe it's a saying we should follow. It's why I went with a whole food diet. A vegan diet had to be safe and healthy, right?! Living this lifestyle appeared to slow down the cancer, but not fast enough for me, so I looked into Cellect. Both the whole food diet as well as the Cellect supplement are supposed to nourish my body and boost my immune system so I can fight off this cancer naturally. I will see how my tests turn out in October, but I have a plan C, D, & E.... if needed. I will find a cure for this!
The point of this blog is the Black and White of information. One article will say to eat a paleo diet. Another will say the Keto Diet is best. And then there is the fruit diet, whole food, and even a fasting protocol one can follow to become healthy. All are supposed to help your body cure disease. So what's one to do? Especially when one article says to pick white, while the other says black! Then, you have to think about what's tainted because many times it is also a site selling a product. At first, I had no idea what to do. It's so confusing and who should I trust? There is a lot riding on this. Maybe even my life.
Then there are the people who have cured their cancer - but who are they? I don't know if they're real people, if what they've posted is their whole story, and do they have a motive? Usually, after reading their stories there is a product or protocol they are trying to sell. Their sites could be totally truthful, but how does one know for sure?? It has been such a struggle trying to figure out what to do and who to trust.
What I did first, was again, what made sense to me. I read all about the Gerson Diet and the rationale behind the rules of it and decided it made sense and I could do it. I went with my gut. My family really thinks I need to eat meat, but for now I don't feel I should. Instead, I'm learning more about a vegan lifestyle and how to make sure I'm getting all the right nutrients. The nice thing about this diet, or in my case - way of life, is there is a lot of information on line that is totally free. I did buy the book, but it was pretty inexpensive. During my research I also found out about Cellect. which is a dietary supplement. This also made sense to me so I added it to my personal protocol.
When I first found out this cancer had spread to my lungs I went on a wild goose chase and tried to do everything. It was really expensive and didn't seem to help much. I knew I had to downsize on the supplements for a few reasons - price and not enough information. I decided to stay with the whole food, vegan diet and added Cellect to the mix. These were things I felt comfortable with. I listened to a talk from Charlotte Gerson and will paraphrase one of the things she said - pick something and stick to it. I thought this was good advice and have been following it ever since.
In my opinion, doing research is important. Understanding what is read and the rationale behind the research is also important. But in addition to understanding what you are doing, you also have to follow your gut. When one article says white and the other black - and they both make sense, use your intuition to help you make your choice. Be sure you can follow the diet guidelines and just do it. Then you have to give it time to work - it could take 2-3 years, so buckle up for the ride! Hopefully, it pays off - I'm banking on it!!
For now, wishing you all health and happiness!
