Update On My Journey. It's Not As Bad As You Would Think!

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying a blessed day. It's Ann and my journey with thyroid cancer continues. For those of you who have not read my earlier posts, I have metastatic, thyroid cancer. During my last doctor visit I was told the cancer was in my lungs and had started to multiply and get larger in size. Since then I have been following a modified version of the Gerson diet. Food choices are limited and include daily juicing as well as coffee enemas. I have been on this diet for about 4 months now. After all this time, it is getting easier, and harder.

I'll start with the harder part of this diet first. The same juices and foods are getting boring and difficult to consume day after day. I wish I knew how to cook tasty vegan dishes with the right spices. Being able to have salt would help, but that is not allowed on this diet. Every now and then I get a craving for foods like pizza or chicken. The cravings are manageable, but when they come, well, it's hard. Next, since I've lost a lot of weight, I need a new wardrobe. Ordinarily, I wouldn't complain about this, but the diet is expensive, so money is a little tight. There are a lot of expenses with being healthy and trying to heal your body. Unfortunately insurance doesn't cover holistic programs. And... then, there's the enemas! I'll save the updates on that for another post.

There are many things that are getting easier though, and that's what I try to focus on. For one, I do not crave sugar or any kind of junk food. I was a huge (literally) candy eater. Now when I go into the store I can pass right by that stuff. Another plus is I have a lot of energy. I'm also sleeping better then I have in years. My blood pressure is still good, and I'm starting to take walks again. I'm feeling confident about this diet and I think that confidence will help a lot with the healing process. I've also lost another ten pounds! For me, that's quite a feat!! I'm trying to live with as little stress as possible. Since this diet is expensive, I've decided to find a part time job and was very fortunate to have found one quickly. This has eased my stress significantly.

I have 1 1/2 months to go until my tests and then, the results. I can't wait! I'm hoping the results will allow me to be able to tell my doctor it was the change in my diet that made all the difference. However the results go, I plan to stick with this diet for life. I might cheat sometimes, but quite frankly, if this works, I want to stay healthy.

For now, I want to wish you health and happiness!
