Hi, it's Ann. I hope this day puts a smile on your face,

One of the first things I started doing on my Journey with Thyroid Cancer was to start juicing. I added this to my battle against cancer because I learned about the Gerson Diet. The Gerson Diet consists of 13 juices per day, 3 vegan meals, supplements, and coffee enigmas. What I found out very quickly was, juicing is expensive. I didn't want this to deter me so I modified the diet, a lot, and juice once, sometimes twice a day. Truthfully, it is like having 4-8 drinks, because I put the juice into a 32oz. jar. This costs about $70 a week. I buy whatever organic vegetables I can find on sale and use them for juicing. I always add apples or pears and lemons. The juice usually tastes OK and it keeps you full for a little while. I don't follow the Gerson plan exactly, but I do look at the list of recommended foods and try to adhere to it. The whole premise of the Gerson Diet is to boost the immune system so it can fight off the cancer naturally.

Here is exactly what I do. No matter what, I eat only organic foods.

I wake up and have Essiac Tea. (wait 1/2 hour before eating anything else)

I drink a juice

Oatmeal bar (homemade)

I have fruit (apples, grapes, or watermelon) for a morning snack

Mixed vegetables for lunch

More fruit

Mixed vegetables for dinner

Be sure to add potatoes to the mixed vegetables. Potatoes are the staple of the Gerson Diet. I don't usually feel hungry, but if I do I just grab some fruit and that usually curbs my appetite. It helps that I am so determined to do this. For me, it's a lifesaver!

I haven't started the enigmas yet, but it is something I'm thinking about. I want to learn more about the rationale and then I will decide. I'm also trying to learn more about the supplements I should take. Right now I take vitamin D3, B12, C, and a multivitamin. As I learn new things I will keep you updated.

I am continuing to do research and will keep a list of people I follow on the Resources page of my website. If you follow them too, you might get newsletters, recipes, videos, or other interesting information. However, I will always share what I learn.

Have you heard of cancer fighting diets? Please share.

Wishing you health and happiness!
